Annual Report 2025

IngCH: Promoting MINT, shaping the future

Sometimes strength lies not in radical change, but in consistency. The past financial year was characterised by stability. We made slight adjustments in terms of personnel and organisation, but we essentially continued to successfully carry out and optimise the projects that were already under way.

A particular milestone was developing the Robot Days at the PH Lucerne into ‘Roberta plus’, a Switzerland-wide robotics project for primary schools. The project has already been successfully supported by NaTech Education and is now ready for the future thanks to the generous support from foundations. For us, ‘Roberta plus’ represents the idea that together we are stronger and more successful than on our own.

Our successes would not have been possible without our members, partner organisations and supporters. Their commitment, expertise and enthusiasm for promoting MINT are the foundation of our work – day after day, project upon project. We would like to sincerely thank them for this.

Our mission remains clear: we want to spark curiosity, offer a sense of direction and create prospects for the future. Together, we create spaces where young people can discover their potential and opportunities.

Promoting young talent – a joint goal

Promoting young talent is something we are passionate about. Opening doors to unknown worlds for young people, giving them new insights, and showing them unconsidered career and study pathways: we firmly believe that being in direct contact with young people as part of our numerous projects is truly worthwhile.

But promoting young talent is not a solo endeavour – it is only possible through collaboration with our member companies and other enterprises, universities (including universities of applied sciences), other educational institutions and numerous advisors and workshop leaders. We want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved who work alongside us to promote young talent.

IngCH’s largest project – its Technology and IT Weeks – continued to take place all over the country in the 2024/2025 financial year. During these weeks, baccalaureate school students once again had the opportunity to learn about companies, universities and research institutes at close quarters, and to reflect in more detail on their options for future study.

The Girls’ Technology Days give female students in the process of choosing their career the opportunity to learn more about careers in technical fields. In the past financial year, 13 taster days were held. For the first time, we can also look back on two events in Ticino. A total of around 160 girls took part in the programme.

With the MINT service point, IngCH offers a contact point for cantonal schools that are looking for support in promoting MINT. In direct consultation with the school management, we develop customised formats – from one-day MINT events on site to visits to universities and practical insights into companies. We also support interested companies in the conception and implementation of educational programmes for schoolchildren.

Achtung Technik Los! (ATL) aims to generate enthusiasm for technical and ICT careers among young people at the age of where they are thinking about their career. The project is aimed at lower secondary school pupils who can experience the diversity and attractiveness of technical training in a practical way through interactive workshops and at career information points.

Events & Training

ETH-Industry Dialogue on the Future

ETH – Industry Dialogue on the Future is organised annually by IngCH in close cooperation with EPFL and ETH Zurich. The Advisory Board, which is chaired by ETH Zurich President Joël Mesot, decides which topic the dialogue will cover. The event sees industry decision-makers discussing the issues of the day with professors from ETH Zurich and EPFL.

The 22nd ETH – Industry Dialogue on the Future on the topic of ‘AI in Action’ was held on 28 November 2024 at our member company Bühler AG in Uzwil. The roughly 120 participants can look back on a successful and in-depth collaboration. Many thanks to Bühler AG for hosting in 2024 and the fascinating company tour that followed!

The next dialogue will take place on 11 September 2025 at EPFL’s SwissTech Convention Centre in Lausanne. The opportunities and challenges involved with new and innovative materials will be discussed and presented.

General meeting and member event

In September 2024, the general meeting was held at Ergon Informatik AG in Zurich. The IT company gave exciting insights into its corporate culture and the development of smart software solutions. In March 2025, the Thurgau University of Teacher Education hosted an event in Kreuzlingen. The focus was on the role of MINT topics in teacher training and practical insights into maker spaces, the film studio and the Rapidmooc station.

Third IngCH Round Table at Siemens

In March 2025, the third IngCH Round Table took place – a format that promotes informal exchange between the senior HR representatives of our member companies. This year’s edition on ‘HR and Technology’ was hosted by Siemens. The open atmosphere and direct dialogue enabled valuable experience-sharing, which was greatly appreciated by the participants.

Training for career advisors

Around 30 career and study advisors attended the event at Sonova in Stäfa, Zurich, in November 2024. The focus was on the career paths and work of engineers at Sonova, as well as the company culture to which Sonova attaches great importance. The degree programmes in Information Technology at Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences and in Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich were also presented in more detail. The participants actively engaged in discussion, and the R&D team at Sonova put together a fantastic programme.

Technology weeks at universities of teacher education

NaTech Education has been strongly committed to establishing technology weeks at universities of teacher education for prospective teachers. IngCH continues to support universities of teacher education following the merger where needed, for example with programme agendas and by contributing financially to the implementation of the week events. We believe that generating prospective teachers’ enthusiasm for MINT is central to good MINT teaching.

Our communication channels ensure that our activities are made visible and tangible – both internally and externally. At www.ingch.ch we provide information about our projects and members and provide insight into current developments in the MINT sector with our interactive study dashboard.

On LinkedIn, we focus specifically on reach and relevance. The greatest response has been generated by posts on our projects to promote young talent, portraits of inspiring personalities from the MINT sector and images and insights from our events. In the 2024/2025 financial year, we published 47 posts and reached the 780 followers mark – and the number is rising.

Our newsletter (currently 3,200 subscribers) also provides regular information about events, new offers and developments in the association. With five issues this financial year, we managed to strike a good balance between topicality and relevance.

Collaborations

We collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders who pursue common objectives. These include:

The SVIN is a Swiss association that serves as a versatile platform for exchanging experiences and networking for female engineers and women in general in scientific and technical professions and companies. Since its founding in 1991, the SVIN has advocated for the concerns of women in the engineering profession and worked to get young women motivated for a career as an engineer. Today, the professional association has around 300 members and 48 supporting members, companies and educational institutions.

The WRO is a global competition for young people who are enthusiastic about technology, combining sporting thrills with scholastic challenges. Young people design and build a LEGO MINDSTORMS robot, program it and use it to take on other teams in an exciting competition.

In the past financial year, we also supported the IT Days in Zurich and Engineers’ Day. As part of Engineers’ Day this year, an excellent collaboration took place with suisse.ing and SVIN: at Engineers@School, engineers visited primary schools to talk about their profession.
