With just one virtual Meitli Technology Day possible in the previous financial year due to the pandemic, we were pleased to finally restart the first taster days in autumn. And it wasn’t just us and the companies that were thrilled to be holding these events again – our target group were also more than keen. We had over 80 girls sign up for the Meitli Technology Days at ABB in Baden, breaking all previous records. This unfortunately also meant that we had to send out many cancellations due to the limited number of places. To make up for this though, ABB organised an extra virtual afternoon for all interested girls. The Meitli Technology Days at MAN Energy Solutions also attracted a pleasing number of attendees and ran successfully despite the re-tightening of COVID-19 restrictions.
The new year saw the start of the first Meitli Technology Days at Siemens in Zurich and Zug. These were the first Meitli Technology Days held without having to wear masks – and it was great to see so many smiling faces again. In March, Meitli Technology Days were also held at MAN Energy Solutions once again. The two-day programme attracted huge interest, despite the last Days only having taken place in the previous November. In May, ABB also reopened its doors to Meitli Technology Days. Due to the big demand in autumn, two one-day events were held to enable more girls to attend. The option of registering for a virtual Meitli Technology Day also returned. But there were no takers for this latter option among the schoolgirls, so the digital taster afternoon was cancelled.
The evaluations, conducted separately from IngCH by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, show that the girls greatly appreciate the programme. More Days are planned for the next financial year 2022/2023 and will include some different companies.
