In many respects, diversity is the key word for the Girls’ Technology Days this financial year. At Medtronic, we successfully completed the long-awaited expansion into French-speaking Switzerland in autumn 2023. Our project leader Zoé Jeanneret and various Medtronic employees led nine female students through the open day in Morges. Everything seemed to run smoothly at first for the premiere in Ticino at ABB, too. Unfortunately, the day ended up having to be cancelled because of too few registrations. However, we are confident that it will be possible to hold it successfully in autumn 2024.
Thanks to the support of the Federal Office for Gender Equality (EBG), non-member companies can participate in the project alongside our member companies. In the last financial year, we were once again able to rely on our experienced partners, including MAN Energy Solutions, Siemens, UBS, ABB and Feller AG by Schneider Electric. The open days at the companies were again well attended and very well received by the participants. In addition, Belimo took part in the project for the first time and offered the students comprehensive insight into the technology surrounding heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. In the IT sector, we were delighted to see the debut of IBM and Accenture. And geographically speaking, Stadler Rail’s first participation expanded the catchment area of the Girls’ Technology Days into eastern Switzerland. Ten companies were therefore able to participate in the project in the last financial year, which is another milestone for the Girls’ Technology Days.
These open days are only possible thanks to dedicated school management and teaching staff. They are the most important disseminators in the registration process for the open days and make the students aware of the Girls’ Technology Days offering. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank the many dedicated teachers and school management staff for their commitment.
