Meitli Technology Days kicked off in autumn 2022 at two new companies. We were delighted that UBS held open days with us again and showcased its exciting IT careers, and that we could add a new company – Feller AG by Schneider Electric – to the roster. The day at Feller in particular was extremely popular, with insights into careers in polymechanics, construction, plastic technologies and installation management, and the 30 places on offer were quickly filled. At the end of October, ABB held two one-day programmes in Baden. Siemens rounded off the schedule in December with two one-day open days in Zug and Zurich.
In the new year, the first of our Meitli Technology Days was held at MAN Energy Solutions, our partner for a number of years. There was a huge amount of interest and the limited number of spaces meant that some girls were unfortunately unable to attend. However, we were happy to point them to the next taster days, three of which were held in June. A particular highlight was the first Meitli Technology Day held at IBM, where 18 girls were able to gain insights into various IT careers. Feller AG by Schneider Electric also held another Meitli Technology Day in June and UBS held the final open day before the summer holidays. The 30 places on the open day were booked up in no time at all.
Many more Meitli Technology Days are planned for the financial year 2023/2024, including open days at new companies and – for the first time – in French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.
Evaluations
The evaluations, which were collected at the end of the open day by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland independently of IngCH, showed that the girls found the programme to be hugely valuable:

Discovering the dream job at the Meitli Technology Day
Samira took part in one of our Meitli Technology Days at Siemens and discovered her dream job as an automation technician. She is now an automation technician in her second year of apprenticeship there. Even though she was advised against it at school, she always knew that she would choose a technical profession. Today she is glad that she had the courage to go her own way. In the video, Samira talks about the activities that await you as an automation technician, which tasks she remembers in particular and gives tips for choosing a career.
