Achtung Technik Los!

Achtung Technik Los! (ATL) aims to generate enthusiasm for technical and ICT careers among young people at the age of where they are thinking about their career. The project is aimed at lower secondary school pupils who can experience the diversity and attractiveness of technical training in a practical way through interactive workshops and at career information points.

Canton of Zurich

In contrast to traditional open days, which often only appeal to interested young people, ATL is aimed at all young people in a school – even those who would previously not have been confident about taking up a technical profession. Girls in particular are targeted through gender-separated workshops and are encouraged to consider technical professions as a realistic and exciting option for their future. The action days take place directly at the schools, which breaks down inhibitions and reaches all young people as easily as possible. Participation is free of charge for schools.

In the 2024/2025 financial year, four action days were held at district and lower secondary schools in the cantons of Aargau and Zurich. A total of around 600 students of career-choosing age benefited from the interactive career information offering. ATL is part of the school’s annual programme at the Lenzburg district school as well as the Rüti and Wetzikon lower secondary schools and is carried out in regular cycles.

ATL is part of the school’s annual programme at the Wohlen and Lenzburg district schools as well as the Rüti and Wetzikon secondary schools and is carried out in regular cycles. We are delighted that we were able to inspire two ‘new’ schools with our programme in 2023 – the Dottikon district school and Hausen am Albis secondary school.

«Achtung Technik Los!» is also an asset for teachers

«Achtung Technik Los! (ATL) enables our pupils to gain valuable insights into technical and ICT careers while still at school. We have already taken part in ATL several times, as our teachers are impressed by the many benefits this brings. ATL offers students the opportunity to experience the diversity, creativity and perspectives of technical careers first hand. The direct contact and exchange of experiences with apprentices, students, young professionals and vocational trainers from the participating institutions are invaluable for helping pupils who are in the career choice phase make informed decisions. ATL is also an asset for us teachers. We receive up-to-date information about the requirements and opportunities in MINT careers and can incorporate these findings into our lessons. Collaboration with external specialists also promotes the exchange of experiences and provides new angles on how we can design our lessons. For our school as a whole, participation in ATL strengthens our profile in terms of promoting MINT subjects. It demonstrates our commitment to offering students practical and future-oriented educational opportunities and to preparing them in the best way possible for their future career. We are thrilled by the professional organisation and the quality of the content of ATL and look forward to more inspiring action days at our school. »
