In December 2024, the time had finally come: the Girls’ Technology Days took place in Ticino for the first time. The premiere at the Centro Svizzero di Calcolo Scientifico (CSCS) in Lugano was a complete success – and so well-attended that a second event was organised in January, which was also fully booked. Contributing hugely to this success was our new freelancer Manuela Ingletto, who joined the project team in summer 2024. As a proven expert on the educational landscape in Ticino, she not only brings with her valuable regional expertise, but also many years of experience in promoting MINT talent through her work at Swiss TecLadies at SATW. Thanks to her networking and commitment, the project was able to gain a foothold in southern Switzerland.
While demand was pleasantly high in Ticino, the picture was more mixed in German-speaking Switzerland. The number of registrations for the taster days fell slightly. The objective for the coming school and financial year is therefore to sharpen communication, analyse the project in a targeted manner and implement potential improvements. In close collaboration with companies and schools, we play an interfacing role. The commitment of everyone involved is needed to ensure that the Girls’ Technology Days can continue to have an inspiring impact.
The successful implementation of the Girls’ Technology Days is only possible thanks to committed cooperation with career advisors, schools and teachers. They are and will remain our most important disseminators: they make schoolgirls aware of what is on offer, support the registration process and motivate young people to get their first insights into technical professions. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all career advisors, school management staff and teachers.
