Achtung Technik Los!

Achtung Technik Los! (ATL) supports new talent in technical and ICT professions. The target audience is students at the lower secondary level who are in the process of choosing their careers. Through interactive workshops and career information posts on the various careers available, young people can see how exciting and varied the vocational training in these sectors can be.

Canton of Zurich

In contrast to traditional open days – attended by young people who are already interested in the specific area – Achtung Technik Los! engages all students in the building, including those that thought they did not have the technical knowledge or ability for these careers. Workshops grouped by gender also make it possible to give girls a specific introduction to the subject area. The action days are held at the schools themselves and are free of charge.

2023/2024 financial year

In the 2023/2024 financial year, seven action days were held at district and secondary schools in the cantons of Aargau and Zurich. A total of around 1,200 students of career-choosing age were able to benefit from the interactive career information offering.

ATL is part of the school’s annual programme at the Wohlen and Lenzburg district schools as well as the Rüti and Wetzikon secondary schools and is carried out in regular cycles. We are delighted that we were able to inspire two ‘new’ schools with our programme in 2023 – the Dottikon district school and Hausen am Albis secondary school.

«Achtung Technik Los!» gets an A!

«ATL’s action day was a huge win for our students and for us as teachers. We were able to witness how gender is still a decisive factor in choosing a career. The boys tackled the tasks in the interactive workshop very confidently, full of self-assurance and without hesitation. The girls, on the other hand, faced technical challenges less confidently and with significantly less self-assurance. It was therefore nice to see how some girls were able to overcome their inhibitions through successful problem solving. Even if only a few students were able to overcome this shyness in the face of technology, the effort was definitely worth it.»
